What Is Missions Fest?
Missions Fest Alberta is a three-day family missions conference held annually at the Shaw Conference Centre in Edmonton. It is sponsored by Alberta & Saskatchewan congregations from many evangelical denominations.

The Goal and Purposes
Missions Fest Alberta's goal is to help individuals find their place where their interests and abilities can best be put to use in the Great Harvest. Three-Fold Purpose: to inform and celebrate what God is doing all over the world; to educate Christians about their responsibility and involvement in world evangelization and missions; to challenge believers to pray, give, send, and go.

What Happens At Missions Fest?
It is a weekend when people of all ages come together to be challenged, informed and educated in global mission activity by participating in a variety of experiences:

170 colorful exhibits, representing local, national and international organizations, Bible Colleges & Seminaries.

Keynote Speakers of international acclaim give addresses in general assemblies.

Children (ages 2-5 & Grades 1-6) participate in workshops and programs that raise awareness of the many people groups around the world.

Youth are challenged to reach out to others during their assemblies and activities.

Christian schools and home schoolers are invited to MF Missions Quest on Friday.

Music plays a big part in these gatherings as does a Flag Parade of Nations.

Seminars and Special Tracks are planned throughout the three days. Mission Organizations are invited to submit suggestions for seminars.

The closing assembly on Sunday, “Sing to the Nations”, is an evening of celebration and brings into focus the joy described in Revelation 5:9 when we will worship with “every tribe and tongue, people and nation” around God’s throne.

How Is The Festival Financed?
To encourage family attendance, the general conference is free to all age groups. Tickets and registration is required for specific activities: Missions Fest Luncheon, Friday Night Youth Assembly and Special Tracks: Church Leadership; Connections for Women; Life Achievers and Marketplace Connection. Finances are provided three ways: mission organizations pay a rental fee for exhibit space, sponsoring churches make an annual contribution and people who attend are invited to make donations.

History
Edmonton has modeled itself after the Vancouver conference, which started in 1984 with six local sponsoring churches and a 3600 aggregate attendance.

Edmonton held its first conference in February 1995 with seventeen sponsoring churches and in an overwhelming response of over 5500 people in attendance over the three-day weekend. The conference out-grew the church facility and moved to a public facility. In fifteen years it has grown to include 112 sponsoring churches. Over the years, thousands have been exposed to world missions and challenged to greater involvement.

Missions Fests are also held in: Winnipeg, Montreal, Toronto, Halifax, Portland, Seattle and Southern California.

Statement of Faith
Missions Fest Alberta includes a broad spectrum of evangelical denominations and organizations. Care will be taken to ensure that no one organization, denomination or movement is given excessive exposure. The emphasis will be to serve the church of Christ in glorifying and honoring our Lord.

Statement of Faith (as adopted by Missions Fest - Edmonton)

We believe ...

that there is One God, eternally existent in Three Persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit;

in the divine inspiration of Holy Scriptures, both the Old and New Testaments, and its consequent entire trustworthiness and supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct;

in the universal sinfulness and guilt of human nature since the fall, making man subject to God’s wrath and everlasting damnation;

in the substitutionary sacrifice of the incarnate Son of God as the sole ground for redemption from the guilt, penalty and power of sin;

in the justification of the sinner by the grace of God through faith alone in Christ crucified and risen from the dead;

in the illuminating, regenerating, indwelling and sanctifying work of God, the Holy Spirit, in the believer;

in the unity and common priesthood of all true believers, who together form the one universal Church, the Body of which Christ is the Head;

in the expectation of the personal, visible return of the Lord Jesus Christ; and ...

in the mandate to go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit and teaching them to obey every thing that is commanded.
